Yep, what every soldier needs....his thong.

An important part of a soldier's life was his daily grog ration. Soldiers 'expected' their ration. No doubt some really odd soldiers would save their ration, even selling it as it accumulated. This flask to the left is a small green bottle. It's advisable to cover your flask with rope or leather to prevent breakage.

Simple rugged tinware makes up this

soldier's mess kit. Both tinware and repro crockery are acceptable. Note, there's only a spoon and knife. Forks are for Frenchies!!!

This soldier has managed to scrimp and save some of his pay. Perhaps he sold some of his rations? Perhaps he got lucky with the dice?

No doubt, it'll all be gone by evening as he will put it to nefarious ends with women, gambling and strong drink!

Simple knives come in all shapes and sizes and are one of the most useful tools in the soldier's kit. This knife is a trade knife; folding knives are more common.

Last, but not least, is a length of leather thong, one of the most useful items to have in your haversack! You can imagine the myriad uses for a thong (leastways, we can.)
